HUMAN RIGHTS OF THE ELDERLY IN THE CITY OF ZAGREB

“…The Foundation “Zajednički put” started a pilot research project “Human Rights of the Elderly in the City of Zagreb” in early 2012, in collaboration with the Research and Training Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Citizenship of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Department of Social Work of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, with the support of the City Department of Social Welfare and Disability. The project was initiated in order to examine whether and to what extent the elderly in the City of Zagreb enjoy their rights, and therefore to see to what extent the demand for the supplementation of the existing approach to ageing through pro-active measures was appropriate for our conditions. The final purpose of the project was to make recommendations for the improvement of the system of protecting and promoting the rights of the elderly in the City of Zagreb on the basis of empirical evidence and in accordance with the idea of active, participative and inclusive ageing…”
